BEGINNER AT NORTH PLATTE IN APRIL

A fly fisherwoman is born! What a fabulous trip you
booked for Julie and me at the North Platte Lodge!
As you and I had discussed, the four days of fishing
at NPL provided a near perfect experience for a
beginner like Julie. She brought over 20 fish to net
each day with numerous other “fish on but got away.”
She is officially ”hooked.” More importantly, we had
a wonderfully patient and responsive guide (Jason
Ostrander) who significantly improved Julie’s
casting and taught her mending and nymphing
techniques so well that she actually out-fished me
one day! And the bonus to this very special trip? I
learned some ways of nymphing very slow, deep water
that I know will make me a better fisherman on some
other streams I fish. Oh, did I mention my wife’s
23 inch cutbow? Or that I caught more 19-20 inch
trout than in all my previous years combined? Or
that owners Brett and Candy are really great hosts?
Or….I could go on, but suffice it to say that Julie
is ready to return tomorrow, but we’re going to wait
until the fall when they say the fishing is “good!”
