BELIZE MOTHER SHIP - FLETCHER WHITE
Don,
Great trip again. We'll need to discuss our dates for next
year as we have another group of friends who want to
go. There are six in each group so we’ll need both
the Meca and Seaduction. We may need two weeks,
even if they fall in different parts of the year.
As far as fishing, our first morning on the permit flats
about 20 miles S/E of Belize City, we found permit
tailing everywhere, on every flat. They seemed to
disappear as the day went on. After that morning,
they were harder to find. We moved the boats south
of Dangriga. We cast to fish on the edges and some
tailing. Mid-way through our fourth day, after we
had released six permit, we decided to finish our
trip up north for some variety.
We took king mackeral, big jacks, and two large mutton
snappers. Great target casting to bones on the
shallow flats as well as snook on the mangrove
edges. On the last morning, my skiff put four large
tarpon in the air. Overall, we seemed to hit it
just right and the variety was a nice finishing
touch to a perfect week.
The food was spectacular and the accommodations
comfortable. No bugs like we've experienced in the
past at the lodges on the Cayes. Everyone had a
great time. Still can't believe the pricing - has
to be the greatest value in salt water. If you like
to fish, there is no where you get more hours on the
water and with great guides.
Count us in forever.
Fletcher White
